TheTavern[e] started out as a concept much like any other organization. I saw a problem and needed a solution. But I'm not a businessman. I'm a problem-solver. I needed a place to give me the freedom to work without the constraints of bureaucracy and capitalism. Sometimes places are built out of need, and those needs require grand solutions. I founded TheTavern[e] as a starting point to revitalize education and to give everyone a place to learn. Like other organizations, I have a vision for a future where everyone has equal chances to learn in ways that benefit themselves. This launch point is about starting from scratch to create an inclusive and diverse future where education values every accessible learning need.
Scribble is TheTavern[e]'s mascot. Scribble is a green quill meant to represent a tool for giving voice. Scribble's voice is silent until they combine ink and parchment. Much like nonverbal individuals who struggle with communication, Scribble just needs an extra pair of tools to tell their story. Worry not about Scribble's current design. For Scribble comes from a place where quills change their appearance at will. How they appear now may be different tomorrow.
My vision for the future of education is a place where everyone can learn. I want TheTavern[e] to be a space where educators and students can share their ideas, ask their questions, and grow their awareness of effective learning models. I want students to learn the subjects that fit their interests, and I want educators to have the freedom and support they need to develop their students' skills in ways that benefit the students, not just themselves.
My mission is to provide a space where educators can share and value the science of education. Within that space, students can learn subjects that best fit their special interests in ways that challenge their natural thinking skills. My mission is to provide students of all ages with the resources they need to achieve their learning goals and to support them through research-backed methods.
Values
I value education as a scientific method to learning. I cherish the abilities and disabilities associated with the learning process. As a formally diagnosed neurodivergent, I myself have learning needs. I have found ways to teach myself and ways to reach out when I need support. As a student, I valued finding an easier way to study or to analyze a theory and the community effort it takes to educate future generations.
Worldview
I believe in a world where society can learn and achieve great things using machine learning. I think people have been given a second chance to escape their own oppression at a much higher rate of success than any generation the world has ever seen. I believe intelligence lies on a spectrum and is antithetical to the current education system.
